Deimos Rising is a computer game by Ambrosia Software, similar to many top-scrolling arcade shooters. It is similar to the scrolling arcade shooter Xevious.
The player commands a fighter-bomber airplane known as a VacFighter through twelve progressively more difficult levels. Some of the levels are named after ancient locations or battles, such as Thermopylae or Carthage. The game builds on its predecessor by using greater color depth 16 bit color, rather than 8 bit as in Mars Rising , alpha transparency, motion blur, improved artwork and a wider range of enemies and weapons.

Latest version of Deimos knows that particular 'Carlos' serial was circulated. Deimos has a codeworm to pretend to accept that serial on that date, lets you play half of one level then crashes your computer. What really exposes this as a codeworm is the format of the crash notification pop-up msg. Ambrosia seems to be gone for good. I don't know if it works, but for registration try setting the system date to 20 January, and then using Serial numbers? If so, I, myself, don't remember if I was ever able to register this game The entire presentation, and the soundtrack, in particular.
Not only is their website completely gone now, but even up to a year ago when their website was still up, it was impossible to actually purchase their games for me anyway. I had tried to purchase Deimos Rising as well as escape velocity: Nova multiple times, over the span of a few months and was unable to. You could put games into your cart, but you could not finish the checkout payment process. It would always time out.
I tried contacting their support, once again, multiple times, no response. I tried contacting their office, left multiple voice mails on their machine, nothing. If someone would be willing to assist me with getting this abandonware working, I would greatly appreciate it.
Hello Mikec. I'm afraid the Ambrosia site is still very much alive and still selling those old games. While those games are still available for sale or activation from their site, we won't be hosting their full games or making available, serials for them. Thanks for your interest. However I don't have the serial number anymore.
Ambrosia website is down and I couldn't find anywhere else where I could buy a license. Is there any way to obtain a licence or a full version of the game today? MikeTomTom - The links are dead: Ambrosia's closed, and their website is gone. It certainly hasn't been updated in a very long time, and their automated key-retrieval system doesn't seem to be working, either. As far as I'm aware, we still cannot host the full games or serials for Deimos Rising and Mars Rising yet. This and Mars Rising hey, any chance on getting that up here?
It's such a shame Ambrosia's gone now. With this modification I added dL 1 the unregistered and registered game can see demo play for eleven of its twelve total levels. Not abandonware at all. Be careful about posting titles like this because the publisher will come down on the site if people are posting still-for-sale material. In fact, the owner of Ambrosia Software has seen this site because I specifically linked him to it to show him an old project he was credited on.
By the way - if the disk image posted is simply the same file as provided on the publisher's website, then I suppose that is not a problem. You can still buy the game. The developer tells: Mac OS 8. To the best of our knowledge, these titles have been discontinued by their publishers. If you know otherwise, please contact us and we will remove them accordingly.
