Windows 10 chromecast freezes free. Why Does My Chromecast Keep Crashing?
I have a brand new XPS 15, which was fine in all other respects except a sticky power button and tighter than usual hinge which have been fixed but one issue which cannot be fixed is its inability to remain casting to Chromecast. I say "remain" because it will start casting tab or desktop to Chromecast and then the the Chromecast device TV freezes after a few seconds. If I'm casting video, the screen freezes but the audio continues, suggesting that it might just be something to do with how the video component is cast.
Also the fact that all other devices on the same network have no problem with Chromecast seems to indicate that it must be specifically the XPS I'm completely stuck. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Any suggestions to try something I might have overlooked? Go to Solution. I just called your technical support and they said that's not Dell problem Even if the problem seem to be limited to DELL computer.
Also, same problem. Brand new Dell XPS Start Chromecast and it freezes after a couple of seconds. No other device has this issue. Edit - Fixed the issue. Dell's 'support assistant' app updated my wireless card driver to a bad driver. I manually downloaded the latest driver from Intel I switched out my killer card with the intel and that fixed the issue. Swapped out Chromecast to make sure that wasn't the issue. This is new PC and haven't had this issue prior to the G7.
When I bought the new laptop I had the same problem. It turned out that when you run the dell update support programme which come with the computer it was changing the intel wireless driver to an old one.

Tried a different Chromecast - swapped out my gen 2 with a brand new working, tested gen 3. No success. Checked MTU number is set to Contacted Dell, stepped me through possible issues and did a remote session - no success. Thankfully, there are things you can try if your Chromecast keeps crashing. Once it has started up, try casting to it again. This usually fixes crashing issues. If not, try the following tips. Your computer or mobile device could be the problem. Therefore, try a quick reboot to refresh and hopefully clear the issue.
If you find that your Chromecast restarts itself or reboots during playback, the cause could be the power supply. Chromecast needs a 5V 1Amp supply. Try using the Chromecast power supply, or any one-AMP or greater smartphone power adapter, to see if it helps.
Check the Wi-Fi network your device or computer is connected to, then check your Chromecast settings. Change either connection setting to match the other. I'm putting up with it for now hoping some solution might show up.
